Russia Plans to Greatly Advance Nuclear Power Generating Capacity
Russia plans to greatly advance nuclear power generating capacity, to build up 2 nuclear reactors every year until 2015 then increase 2 nuclear reactors to 4 ones until 2020 so that to greatly advance the nuclear power generating capacity. According to the plan of federal government, Russia would set up 2 nuclear reactors with 10,000,000KW every year, by 2015 the government will have provided 674 trillion ruble (26 billion US Dollars).
 
The No.1 vice premier Sergei Ivanov said, who is hopeful to be the candidate of president in 2008, that Russia should not rely only on the exploitation of petroleum and natural gas and other energy storage. He pointed out it is very obvious to realize the energy variety.
 
At present, Russia has 21 nuclear reactors in 10 nuclear power plants, approximately taking up 16%~17% of power generated. The president of Russia requires increasing the share of electricity by nuclear power at least to 25% by 2030.
